Youth Group Support Needed

The youth are breathing new life into the old parish hall kitchen located in the east wing of the church building. Their vision is to use the kitchen as a youth coffee house and food preparation station. You can support their efforts by in-kind donations of the items listed below or by donating funds to purchase these items.

We are also asking parishioners to support the youth by cooking or donating meals for the youth group meeting every Sunday night. There is a meal sign-up sheet on the narthex table and an electronic sign-up found at:

Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 1 p.m. - Prepping donations AND Packing 100 Shoeboxes - many hands needed.

Saturday, Sept. 16 at 6 p.m. at The Dwelling Place, 1800 E. College St., Lake Charles. Come hear Luis, who received a Shoebox as a child in Panama: Come, bring your family and friends and be blessed!

Donations needed ASAP: Notebooks, Pens, Pencils, Combs, Clothing items for all ages. Please continue to pray for the entire OCC Ministry Project.

Please continue to pray for all recovering and rebuilding after Hurricane Harvey. If you feel led to go physically help or donate money, go to samaritanspurse.org for opportunities and reports of their work in the disaster relief efforts.

 

Inquirer's Classes and Bishop's Visit

Father Seth will begin an Inquirer's Class on Sunday, September 3 at 9:15 a.m. for persons interested in learning more about the Episcopal Church and to be baptized, confirmed or received into the church during the Bishop's visit on October 3.

The Inquirer's class will meet at 9:15 a.m. for four Sundays in September. For the Bishop's visit, there will be only one service on Sunday, October 3, at 10:30 a.m.

 

Habitat for Humanity Build Team Needed

Habitat for Humanity pic St. Michael’s is looking to form a Habitat for Humanity build team. Volunteers are needed either at the build or to make lunches for the builders. The build will be held the week of October 2. Please call the church office to volunteer.

From Calcasieu Area Habitat for Humanity: “Your work on building a house will give a hand up to one hardworking local family. With your help homeowners all over Southwest Louisiana will be able to build better lives for themselves and their family by achieving strength, stability, and independence.”
